Paklenica National Park – Zadar
A paradise for walkers, climbers and adventurers
Promulgated N.P. 1949, 95 km square. The main attractions are the impressive canyons of Paklenica, large and small, cut from the sea to the highest peaks of Velebit, the largest rock climbing site, the Manita Cave cave and pleasant hiking trails with numerous signposts totaling 150 km of trails. Animals live here: the eagle, the chamois, the bear, the wolf, the lynx.
Zadar was known as early as the 9th century BC. as the settlement of Liburna (Illyria). In this area, from the Roman colony to the Croatian state, there is still talk of a turbulent past, as evidenced by several layers of the city walls, the Roman Forum, the early Christian St. Donat, and the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque churches and buildings.
